Why we named our home Sapphire Skies.

Near the end of 2011 we lost our fathers within six weeks of the other.  Cancer claimed two of the most amazing, giving men we know. Both were veterans, WWII and Korean. Great dads, good men. It was a challenging time.

We are great Disney fans, and Linda's favorite Disney movie is "The Lion King".  The opening musical piece is "The Circle of Life", by Elton John. In the song is the line, "But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky keeps great and small on the endless round in the circle of life."

In honor of our fathers' amazing lives we dedicated the name of our home to them.

Sapphire Skies is in their honor.

Why in the world is there a hand towel framed on the gallery wall?

When we purchased the home it was in a bit of disarray.  It was the bottom of the real estate crash and it had been empty quite a while.  The previous owner had rented the home out to a long term renter and that renter had left it in less than good order. The pool was dark green and had small snakes residing in it. Lanai screens were ripped. The walls of the home were not in great shape and doors were dotted with stickers, nail polish and other damage. The carpets were grimy and required replacement and the floor and bath wall tiles were dirty and damaged. Kitchen counter tops were in poor shape and the faucets thoughout the home were outdated. It needed a bit of TLC.  We've never decorated a home from "scratch" so it was a bit intimidating.  We wanted it to be warm, clean and a tastefully decorated.  How to do that when you are working from paint to decor and you are not a professional decorator?

Fabric!  I love fabric.  Sewing is a loved hobby. There are scores of fabric designers who are on top of the latest trends for color and subjects. They are the best to follow when you want to be current.  So the search began for the perfect piece of fabric that would direct us in our work to decorate the home .  It had to have current colors, and a current or timeless subject.  I spent quite a few hours perusing fabric stores, department stores and discount stores.  Then I found it.  It was in the clearance section of Target.  A bird themed hand towel with a variety of warm and current colors.

Did that little towel travel?  You bet.  It flew with me to Florida and it rode along when we drove there.  It went with us to Sherwin Williams to match the colors for painting the walls and off to furniture stores to be held next to and help choose furniture.  It took many trips to Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabric, Michael's, flea markets, antique stores, and Old Time Pottery to help choose pictures and other decor.  Tucked in my bag, it visited IKEA,  J C Penny, Kohls, and Macy's for bedding, towels and assorted linens. That little, last of it kind, in the clearance bin hand towel, was the best find ever!

But one more thing.  Why are there orange accents?  To use an overused term we needed a "pop" of color.  While searching through a local thrift store Howard found a beautiful orange vase.  That was just what we needed. I credit our orange accents to him.  A perfect accent color.  Good catch Howie!

Our little hand towel single handedly, pun intended, became the inspiration for the entire direction of design for this vacation home.  It deserves a special place on the wall.

Enjoy the home and say hey, to the framed little hand towel on the wall.

Great family villa
Lovely villa, extremely comfortable and well equipped with everything you could wish for and more! Great location, not too far from Disney especially with Linda’s shortcut. Managed to do plenty of sightseeing, saw both Atlantic and Gulf coasts and also recommend a visit out to Winter Garden - a beautiful town. Also a walk around Lake Louise State Park, just 5 mins down the road from villa. Were all sad to leave. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Private Oasis
We drove down from Chicago to escape the cold. Our family doesn’t do the crazy Disney crowds. Orange Tree provided a perfect private retreat. The house is beautiful and just as pictured. It had everything we could possibly need. My children lived in the pool and we enjoyed the garage toys in the evening. The neighborhood is lovely and we had so many positive interactions with neighbors. .

Great vacation home!
We were in Florida for a week for softball and Disney World / Universal Studios. This house was perfect! Centrally located to all, nearby stores, restaurants, parks and Disney. The home is very clean, great floor plan, nice pool, plenty of towels and kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Also has a Great game room for the kids. Linda (owner) was a pleasure to work with. This was my first time renting through VRBO and Linda was extremely responsive to any questions we had. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip. Thanks again!

Linda and Howard thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! We had a wonderful, relaxing 3 weeks in February and March 2019. Your home is beautifully decorated and so cozy. You provided all the amenities we needed and some we never thought would have been available! We enjoyed the sunny warm pool pretty much daily. We are definitely returning here again! Thank you so much. Kathy and Rick

Perfect place to stay

The house was very clean with good homely feel about it. Grand children liked the games room and spent a lot of time in there when not in the pool. Would love to rent this property again.

Ideal for a family holiday
Lovely home, clean and spacious. Plenty of room for a larger family. Very comfortable and well equipped, more like home than a holiday rental. Linda was brilliant, very quick to answer any questions. Steve, from maintenance was very helpful, nothing too much trouble. We stayed for a month and felt completely rested and relaxed.
